The goal of a municipal records management program is to ensure the efficient, economical, and effective management of city records through a comprehensive system governing the creation, maintenance, retention, accessibility, and disposition of government information.

This seminar is designed to support municipal clerks and other records professionals in achieving that goal through practical guidance, expert insight, and peer collaboration. Attendees will explore foundational records management principles, disaster planning and mitigation strategies, the relationship between records management and public information, and best practices for managing electronic records.

Additional topics will include cultivating an archival mindset in records management, conducting effective records audits, and developing sustainable practices to preserve and protect government records. The seminar will also feature dedicated table discussions and peer-learning opportunities where participants from both small and large municipalities can share experiences, ask questions, and discuss real-world challenges and solutions.
