Purpose

The Certification Committee of the Texas Municipal Clerks Association, Inc., offers partial payment to defray registration and travel costs of seminar attendance for current TMCA members who are employed by a municipality in Texas and enrolled in the Texas Municipal Clerks Certification or Recertification Program. The amount paid to any individual applicant will not exceed $500.00 per calendar year. The Certification Committee reviews applications and approves or denies requests.

 Application for scholarships will be open during registration for each seminar.  The application period will be opened eight weeks before a seminar, and scholarships are awarded for each seminar on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Applicant must be currently employed by a municipality in Texas.
  2. Applicant must be a paid member of the Texas Municipal Clerks Association, Inc.
  3. Applicant must be actively pursuing certification or recertification in the Texas Municipal Clerks Certification Program, and the seminar for which application is made must be necessary to complete certification or recertification requirements.
  4. Applicant pursuing first time certification must have completed one course of homework and successfully passed one exam.


Application Requirements

  1. Applicant must submit the prescribed application, a copy of latest TMCCP transcript, and a letter of commitment stating how his/her educational and professional goals will be enhanced by completion of the Texas Municipal Clerks Certification/Recertification Program.
  2. The Seminar Scholarship shall be paid to the recipient or municipality on a reimbursement basis following full attendance of the seminar for which the scholarship was awarded. When requesting reimbursement, recipient must submit expenses with documentation (receipts and statements) to the Administrative Director.
  3. The application, TMCCP transcript, and letter must be received at least 10 business days prior to an in-person seminar.
  4. Registration fee scholarship applications for the next calendar year shall not be considered and/or awarded until after December 1 of the present year.


Attendance Requirement for Reimbursement

Recipient must attend the seminar for which the scholarship was awarded in their entirety in order to be eligible for reimbursement.

Limitations

  1. Scholarship must be used for the seminar awarded.
  2. Applicants are eligible for one scholarship each calendar year

 Forfeiture of Scholarship

Applicant must reimburse the Texas Municipal Clerks Association, Inc., the amount(s) of scholarship(s) awarded if he/she should not continue to actively pursue the course of study with TMCCP.
